Our Legacy Giving Program helps you learn how to take care of yourself, your family and your community through a charitable endowment gift that works forever. Anyone can leave a legacy and at any level.
A permanent, charitable endowment is a fund held by a tax exempt organization, such as the Park County Community Foundation, where the following is true:
The body or principal of the fund is protected (not spent) so that it can generate annual earnings that can be granted to charity, forever;
A percentage of the interest earned on the fund is spent to support a charitable cause, forever;
A percentage of the interest earned on the fund is reinvested into the principal so that the earnings will continue to grow over time and forever.
Montana Endowment Tax Credit
Did you know that Montana is one of only a few states that encourages legacy gifts to endowments with an incentive called “Montana Endowment Tax Credit” or METC?
Established in 1997, the METC is a powerful way to ensure that local communities benefit from your generosity forever. It also saves you money on your Montana income tax. METC offers individuals, businesses, and organizations the opportunity to invest in their communities through endowed philanthropy AND earn an above-the-line credit on their Montana tax liability.
Your accountant or attorney can help you discover the maximum deduction that you can earn, which varies for individuals, married couples, and businesses. You can give to an existing qualified charitable endowment, such as PCCF’s Forever Fund, or we can help you create a new endowment.

Step 2: Contact an attorney to draw up an endowment gift agreement naming Park County Community Foundation – Federal Tax ID:
#20-5581763 – as the beneficiary.
Step 3: We welcome you to the Legacy Giving program.
Step 4: Upon your passing, your legacy gift continues to generate income every year and lifts up the Park County community, forever.

We can assist by setting up a fund to support a particular organization or cause. The Park County Community Foundation receives your donation, handles tax receipts, and processes payments to disburse the funds back into the community.
